Quote of the Day

Onwards, then, to the second glorious decade of Scottish devolution. Here's Iain Gray, Labour's Scottish leader (Gray, Brown - they're all named after boring colours), extolling the virtues of the pretendy Parly:

"Has it [the Scottish Parliament] made a difference?" he asked rhetorically. "Yes it has. When the Parliament started one in five children in this country lived in poverty. That's now one in three. That's significant progress."

Iain Gray is a mathematics teacher.

look like he'll be losing his licence

and, if Labour get their way, soon it will be one in one

"Those that can, do. Those that can't, .....

He could give that maths genuis Gordon Brown a run for his money.

But the difference between one in five and one in three i only zero percent.

And Scottish education used to be the envy of the world.

I thought everyone knew that Labour's aim was for everyone to live in poverty? The man's made significant progress towards that.

Must do better.

Stupid cunt.

You're having a laugh?

With this egalitarian agenda soon all children will be born into poverty......and nobody will be able to count.....

/facepalm

Jesus wept.

Actually, following that link to Alex Massie at the Speccie, I see that he says Gray was formerly a Maths teacher. I wonder if he was politely asked to leave...

I thought I was hearing things! So he did actually say it then. Twat.
Anyway, can anyone actually define child poverty?

Rab, yes.

Child poverty is when 1/2 the population get below the average income.

This disgraceful state of affairs MUST be stopped.

Double their income.

Then recalculate what percentage of children get below the average. What, still 50 % ? Disgraceful. Repeat endlessly.
